Update on Whitby Hydro and Veridian Proposed Merger - MAAD Application
Whitby Hydro and Veridian submitted a Mergers, Acquisitions, Amalgamations and Divestitures (MAAD) application to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) on July 30, 2018 for regulatory review and approval of the proposed merger of our two utilities.
The OEB is in the process of assessing the application and reviewing many aspects of the merger, including applying a “No Harm Test” to ensure the proposed merger does not have an adverse effect on ratepayers. This means that the OEB will consider whether customers would be harmed in context of rates, quality and reliability of service in a merger, and look for evidence that rates and service would be equal to or better than what customers would have experienced without a merger.
As part of the regulatory review process, the OEB has issued a Notice of Application and Hearing to Whitby Hydro and Veridian customers regarding a public hearing on the proposed merger and detailing how interested persons can engage in that process. This Notice of Application and Hearing and the MAAD Application is available on our merger website and directly accessible here:
